Lisa Lowe

RVN DipFN

Career Summary:

Registered Veterinary Nurse, practice manager, clinical supervisor and soon to start a post graduation certificate in Veterinary Business Management with Liverpool University. I started as a student nurse in 2009 after leaving college and qualified in 2012. I have then worked as a Head Nurse and now Practice Manager. In 2018 I became very unwell and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I found this very challenging as I had been so active for many years. I am so lucky to have such supportive management and work colleagues. We have found a way for me to continue using my clinical knowledge to support students and continue with the less physical aspects of nursing which I can carry out with hurting myself.

Interested in sharing:

I have knowledge and experience of what it is like being a chronically ill in veterinary practice. As a manager and employee I have experience of what adaptations might be needed and should be made in practice to help employees who might suffer chronic illness.
I and other colleagues have suffered with mental health disorders over the years. I feel this is such an important topic that should be regularly addressed in practice.
I am also a lesbian and together, with my wife, we have a beautiful daughter. As I am part of the LGBTQIA+ community I can help employees and management with any topics they wish to discuss.
My colleagues and myself are also passionate about gender equality and tackling sexism in the veterinary industry.
